This repair is for a broken tap from a wash basin, the worn off thread at spout of tap body (nozzle worn off thread with spout) .

When the tap is turn on the water rush out and spray all over the basin ( nozzle seal, aerator, nozzle) . Another issue is the tap smooth surface peeling off it coating and have sharp edge which pose danger.

Decide to replace with a new tap for wash basin.

Tools required is monkey wrench, ruler .

Parts to replace 1) Wash basin tap 1/2 inch 2) Flexi connector 18 inch both end 1/2 inch

The original tap used is mixture tap for cold and hot water. Hence the wash basin have a bigger hole of about 3.5 cm diameter.

This result in need to add a plastic ring to fill the gap for the new tap tail diameter to fit in the 3.5 cm hole.

The tap purchase do not have the same diameter on the tap tail.

Remove certain parts from the old tap and transfer to new tap.

It is important to do this step so that it can mount the new tap on wash basin with over size hole.

The old flexi connector need to replace as the rubber ring is harden overtime.

Hence it is a good idea to buy new flexi connector when replacing new tap.

The final step after installing a new tap and flexi connector is to place a dry newspaper underneath pipe to verify there is no leakage. If there is no newspaper on hand you can place basin or pail as alternative.

Once confirm no water spot on newspaper it shows no leakage and repair is done.
