Just to share more details on making luggage tag, this design was copied from Pinterest site. As was starting to learn how to make luggage tag.

最初のパートは「ラゲッジタグプロジェクト」というタイトルで、2018年4月19日に投稿されました。

ラゲッジタグの作り方をもっと詳しくお伝えするために、このデザインはPinterestからコピーしました。ちょうどラゲッジタグの作り方を学び始めた頃でした。

✋The design is such that the plastic piece window, the strap help keep the flap cover up unless the owner open by removing the strap.

✋プラスチック片の窓とストラップが、所有者がストラップを外して開けない限り、フラップカバーを上げたままにするデザインです。

✋Another point to note the plastic window are replaceable, as this project is design with this in mind. the plastic window is not sew to leather but slip on. From experience the plastic material breakdown, crack, or scratch surface you can replace it anytime.
✋もう一つの注意点は、プラスチック製の窓は交換可能であることです。このプロジェクトは交換を念頭に置いて設計されています。プラスチック製の窓は革に縫い付けられているのではなく、はめ込むタイプです。経験上、プラスチック素材の破損、ひび割れ、表面の傷については、いつでも交換可能です。

Luggage Tag project #3

Sharing idea for gift project, luggage tag.

           This luggage tag project is on luggage tag strap. As there several way to stitch the "O" ring for strap.

However other related post on luggage are as follows:-

2) Luggage tag on 17th Sept 2018 ( Luggage tag project #1).

Alignment for oblong punch

Press a light mark on leather to ascertain proper position for oblong punch.

Use an oblong hole punch, note is to align the punch and lightly mark on leather before punch with hammer.

Fabricate strap for luggage tag project.

Have a simple tips to share when try to cut long narrow leather materials for luggage tag strap.

Add a thin strip of double sided
tape on cutting mat to help keep
leather in place.

 This one way it minimize the soft leather from moving around during cutting process. It is especially challenging for longer material. This more challenging if the leather material is soft or not so rigid.
It easy to remove the double sided tape after use.

Punch oblong hole for belt buckle.
* Tips to lightly tap the oblong punch mark to confirm location before punch. Note the pin mark also assist in check alignment and it center position.

How to align oblong punch to strap, note a small pin mark to help center point aid

Tools and material for riveting

 Add the rivet button after gule two piece together

Prepare for punch hole to center rivet position.

Next step is to fabricate the O ring for the strap.

Overall view on project (coin purse and luggage tag)

These are project created since about 9 months ago (around late Oct 2017 onward).
(*refer to Past Project post dated 29th July )

Various design on coin purse is displayed.

Of course there are several distinct type of coin purse. 

1) Single pouch version 

2) Double pouch version 

3) Hidden button 

4) Different width type and deeper or shallow pouch 

5) Different shape of flap and different shape cut on the edge of the coin purse.

Different design and size coin purse

Certain coin purse the flap edge is unique as it use the raw original edge of hide is use to produce different texture and usual shape during treatment by tannery.
The purpose of using the original raw leather hide with it original leather edge, make it very unique and one of it kind.
The idea was to created original edge inherent from the supplier and distinct shape. Noted some of the edge are enhance with a look and feel, these original edge cannot be duplicate by human.

Cover flap is very unique is the flap edge
are of odd shape, design as the edge are not trim off. 

As original style, shape, texture, cutting edge, unique edge pattern , senses and feeling is some out of the ordinary. 

It help to enhance the strange design fitting the project yet it serve it purpose. To other it might seen odd and not fit the typical design as expected.

Small coin purse with hidden button

The hidden button is done with an addition layer to conceal button in between two layer.
It use different leather material of mix and match . It use non leather materials for the inner side of
the flap. This design have several challenge in that the two layer are glue attached and trim before stitching the edge is challenging.

The idea of using two layer of material to conceal part of the button

head. It is also to help to it easier to open and close the flap. Of course in term of design it also create a pattern along the edge of the flap.

It looks like the veg tan leather is better choice for doing emboss pattern. Compared to other type of non veg tan leather. 

Veg Tan leather is most suitable for emboss pattern

Combination of different type of leather.
