Leather tools and tips #12 (Stropping Board)

                     Leather tools and tips #12 (Stropping Board)
A request from a friend to make a stropping board for him. Use for his kitchen knife.
       
      Leather craft  tools and tips #12 (Stropping Board) , specification about 12 inch length and 3 inch width leather materials.

Got a big piece of plywood from crate box. cut to various size for each project.
Hence use circular saw with other "tools" to help cut off.

 Tools use for this project , example wood working portable bench, various G clamp size , one long L bracket , marker pen, ruler, vacuum cleaner, dusting brush and etc.

Use a pen to mark offset to cut plywood.

Tips #1 :-  Masking tape to cover area cut line to minimise plywood splinting edge.

Tips #2 :- Use aluminium bracket and wood piece to guide circular saw blade.

Overall view on set up to prepare for cutting a straight line with circular saw.

Use circular saw to cut ply wood













Update 2nd May 2020.

 After glue both plywood and allowed to cured . Then  proceed to cut stropping broad handle shape.

Tools used is copying saw, G clamp, wooden support, vacuum cleaner, pencil and ruler.

File off the sharp part of the nail, use a small piece of tape to minimise scratch the wooden surface.

Paint a few layer of acrylic paint to rear section of plywood after sandpaper surface.
Apply paint to all edge of plywood.


Allow for proper drying after apply paint.

* note since it is imported material the price for high end quality leather have a cost associated, however they do have other choice type of leather to meet your budget.
* typical imported leather is about RM80.00 to RM100.00 per sq foot, the smallest size is about 35 sq foot and the bigger size is about 50 sq foot (50 x 100 x 0.24 = USD 1,200.00)
