Leather repair project (Friend's Leather Brief Case Bag) UPDATING #4 in progress

This repair project for update #4 have two portion:-
1) Repainting foot button
2) Different way or technique to perform stitching bag for repair.

1) First cut thick paper template with hole to fit the bottom foot button. So that it easier to remove rust and apply a layer of paint.

Compare those button head being painted against those not painted.

Tools (wire brush, cleaning cloth) and paint material, cotton bud .

2) Have to use different technique for perform stitching on repair of bag with flap that is movable and heavy.

This is one way to do stitching with bag laying side and the flap hanging upward.
This is one way to gain access from the inside to outside for the needle and thread.

Step#1 insert needle #1 half way from outside, then proceed to next step.
* note:- if have difficulty it will need a scratch awl or special punch hole awl.

Step#2 use the other needle #2 and locate the #1 needle pointed part as reference hole. Use needle #2 and locate point and insert at reference hole.

Tips :- The reason why this was done was for needle #2 to exit from inside to outside to make it easier to do saddle stitching.

This needle #2 pointed part can be clearly seen.

Do take note there are short white thread which is to temporary hold the two leather together before start stitching.

It is also to assist to punch hole with scratch Awl as it minimize two layer of leather from movement.

Step #3, The needle #1 now cross the needle #2 for part of saddle stitching to take place
Step # 4, insert needle #1 into the place where needle #2 existed.
Some situation it might be easier to have needle start from inside or outside depend on your preference.

Step #5, once needle #1 pointed part exit from inside layer next loop thread (note the direction of loop is important to be consistent flow).
Proceed to pull thread for needle #1(inside layer) and needle #2 (outside layer).
This complete one saddle stitch task and repeat for the rest.

Note and tips:-  there are situation to have the bag laying at it side or standing upright position whichever suit you.
To minimize the flap from obstructing access I have use a raffia string or any strong string to lift open flap so as to gain access to inside of bag.
However this is just a tips/suggestion, it depend what type of bag you are doing. However for this case the lawyer bag is vintage and old it need additional care to handle this repair job.

After try use paper trail version once, it ok then use leather materials. This way it save cost and can make change as goes along.

Evaluate new way to improve to protect tip of scissor from being sheath.
Try out another design type of scissor sheath.
はさみの先端が鞘に入らないようにするための新しい改善方法を評価します。
はさみの鞘の別のデザインタイプを試します

Use this method to protect the scissor tips. You will notice
the layer prevent the scissor from moving deeper.
I create a stopper layer to minimize scissor moving forward. この方法を使用して、はさみの先端を保護します。レイヤーによってはさみが深く動かないことがわかります。
はさみが前方に動くのを最小限に抑えるために、ストッパー レイヤーを作成します。

This hard layer is to act act "stopper" to be in contact with the scissor nut or screw head.
The purpose of this hard layer is to make contact with scissor nut when inserted into sheath.

この硬質層は、シザーナットまたはネジの頭と接触するための「ストッパー」として機能します。
この硬質層の目的は、シースに挿入されたときにシザーナットと接触することです。

Leather project #6 Part 2 (Order a Mould for emboss LOGO)

Leather project #6  Part 2 (Order a Mould for emboss LOGO).

Finally my design for logo have been accepted by supplier and receive item today.

Testing the different leather materials. Recommend to wet form the leather and keep press for extend period.

Try out this new machine with leather and non leather materials.

Testing on non leather materials

Found certain leather material is suitable for embossing pattern.
It work best where the leather is soak in water (wet form method)  and allow at least for about 1 to 2 hours to press the emboss device.
Obverse certain leather have limited capability to retain it shape. Hence need to verify

Leather project #6 Part 1 (Order a Mould for emboss LOGO)

Leather project #6  Part 1 (Order a Mould for emboss LOGO)

Had ordered a simple device (mechanical device to shape LOGO) to create simple imprint on my logo.

1. Start to learn from You Tube how to design logo for this purpose.
2. What and which type of software to use, currently I use Abode Photo Shop and Abode Illustrator.
3. It is very important to use only vector shape (for better define edge and less pixelate) and MUST be in black and white (part of the supplier requirement to make mould or burning using laser machine)
4. Share of of the learning process to design an acceptable logo for supplier to accept.
5. Sharing some of the process and using laser to burn the logo pattern.

Sharing some experience in logo design and number of trail and error.

1 st design Logo

Tips - Cannot accept colour image, background must be plain white and text MUST be in black

* note typo error on forest

4th design Logo.

Supplier reject as the background is not white, the non std font use not suitable due to resolution.
* note typo error on forest

6th design Logo.

The chop at center image recommended with white background and the "blogspot link" wording need to be bold character.
* note typo error on forest

Work in progress... thank you for reading and any comments or suggestion are welcome.

Try out using laser to create by burning the surface of leather material surface and use the machine software
