Appointment Card Holder

 This is simple project for appointment card holder, present two version to suit user needs.

Version #1 is size 8.5 cm x 12.5cm and version #2 is 8.5cm x 13.5 cm.

The size of card holder is base on user appointment card available at the point in time plus seam allowance.

Each of these project take a few hours to perform if all materials are available. However the emboss part take about half a day for leather to be dry.

The leather is still wet area as it have just removed from the emboss press.

Repair bag handle -バッグのハンドルの修理

 One bag handle which flaking surface need to replace.

Issue is the materials used is flaking on both handle of bag. Not sure why this happen in this case.

Hence need to replace with a goat leather of about 1 mm thickness

バッグのハンドルが片方剥がれており、交換が必要です。

問題は、バッグのハンドルの両方に使用されている素材が剥がれていることです。なぜこのようなことが起こるのかは不明です。

そのため、厚さ約1mmの山羊革に交換する必要があります。

Select leather thickness of about 1 mm.

革の厚さは1mm程度のものを選んでください。

Pre punch the handle strap and pad matching in punch holes

ハンドルストラップとパッドをパンチ穴に予めパンチします。

Choose two point at bottom and one point at top to align the handle pad and handle strap.

ハンドル パッドとハンドル ストラップの位置を合わせるには、下部の 2 つのポイントと上部の 1 つのポイントを選択します。

Check position and verify both match in position before start stitching.

ステッチを開始する前に、位置を確認し、両方の位置が一致していることを確認します。

Start from the point where the handle fold over meet. Stitch along down ward and return to the other side handle .

Terminate the thread once it complete the stitching.

Verify punch hole position with a awl before stitching with needle and thread.

It is important to be consistent for the needle and thread then the stitching line looks neat and the thread pattern is looks better.

Observe the thread pattern is consistent, note it stitch move from top to bottom and move upward to other side of handle.

Use a minimum of three point to hold handle pad in position.

Project for handle repair is done.

Patch old LOGO area of bag

 This repair is for a bag with an old LOGO label removed from bag.

The old label was removed however there is mark which very obvious, hence owner decide to fix this issue. Hence request to attach a new leather material to cover those ugly hole marks.

Prepare a new patch to cover up marks on bag surface after remove original bag logo.

Please see the area to place a new layer to cover up marks.

Notice the rear of patch with a white foam backing stick to a leather layer.

Note：- try use a leather material which is non vegtan leather, the result is the emboss area is not very good emboss pattern.

First wet the leather and use an emboss press own logo on it, cut to required shape.

Pre punch holes along the edge before attach foam layer.

Attached a foam layer on rear of leather, for the effect and as well to give it a better support.

What I do was to cut the foam layer to match the leather shape, then trim off the edge to allow easier to do stitching work.

WHY do this sequence, to pre punch stitching hole first? Due to limited space on this repair project find difficulty to put a board inside project.

Position check where to place new leather patch

** note the arrow is to show the places where the previous metal logo leg have leave ugly marks is removed.

Remove some thread from inside bag for access to inside to make it easier to perform stitching work.

Note :- did not observe which thread to remove, this resulted in more work to cover up later. The inner lining, zipper and outer layer all fall apart.

After apply glue to both the bag surface the new logo layer  and allow glue it to set before attaching.

After allow sufficient time for both layer glue to harden. Use a sharp awl to punch hole thru in preparation to do stitching work.

The old mark of the logo metal leg is very obvious, hence need to cover them

It best to work the stitches from the bottom edge and move to the top. This is my preference in stitching sequence..

Once the stitching is complete the next step is to reassemble the inner layer, zipper and outer layer with appropriate colour thread to match bag

Once the new leather layer is attached the job is done. 

Take note the bottom bag with it metal logo, the top bag with new leather logo.

Trolley castor wheel repair

 Non leather repair, Trolley castor wheel repair.

It is very noisy trolley wheel sound, isolate to the front castor wheel, it like sand rubbing against moving part. You can hear a heavy rubbing sound when turn castor wheel

Before repair, it very rough and noisy

After repair, the result is very quiet castor wheel

Do take note this castor wheel use a bush type .

Observe the plate post have a square hole and other is round hole. The screw with it head with taper square design.

This is to show the screw type with screw thread on one side and a square taper head.

Add a thin strip of leather as shim for the bush.

Apply small quantity of grease to the outer side of bush and the inner hole of castor wheel

Before cleaning , a lot of dirt and item stuck at the roller path. Both fluffy roller front and rear is dirty

Due to dirt clog hole for proper suction it can restrict air flow for better suction.

Hence it is recommend to do regular cleaning on the fluffy head and minimize damage.

I find it good to use an old toothbrush and soft brush to clean the fluffy roller surface.

After cleaning done and test run..so far the fluffy roller have improve suction.

Wooden beads car seat mat/cover repair

 Wooden bead car seat mat/cover repair.

Due to normal wear and tear some of the lines are broken on wooden bead mat /cover.

This resulted in loose wooden beads falling off.

*** Tips:- It best to take note NOT to remove any broken line immediately, so it save some time during repair work. Because if the bead drop off or move away when try to remove them. It will be more time consuming to rearrange the bead to its original position.

Do take note this wooden bead was repaired long time ago, hence some of the beads was broken and missing.

Due to lack of skill and experience during previous repair some of the beads position being ‘alerted’ and it original position looks odd and it is not flat in certain section of seat cover.

The new line is a fishing line of 0.7 mm and 50 lbs specification.

 

The repair strategy is three sections.

1.       First to repair all broken lines for the top taper section, this to restring broken line and bring the bead into position and hold them in desired location.

2.       Next repair is for all broken lines for the bottom section, by re string broken line, add a new line horizontally for the beads.

3.      Finally, match and close gap between the top section and bottom section. Add a new support vertical line between top section and bottom section.

Marking the bead to use as reference when do re string process

Comparing the broken line cause a big gap in between.

How to insert line into bead. at time it helps by carrying the bead

it easier to restring bead. At time if not possible use a tweezers to help. 

This is to show how one line is terminate before moving to another bead in line.

Use own wire tool to insert into bead to minimize movement when do re string line.

This is how the original string line are run.

Once the top and bottom section of wooden bead is re string and verify the next step to close the gap between them

The top section bead are align slowly and move closer to the bottom section.

The final step is to reinforce the top and bottom section is run a line from top to bottom .

This spine line to support the weight of the two section to be held in place. Hope it will help to support all beads in it position.

The last step is to installed on the car seat. ( see the above picture with Before and After repair).
