Leather project #5 Scissor sheath PART 1 (Friend scissor sheath try out)

Meet a friend and he was previously working for a cloth supplier, he show me on 10 inch scissor made in China with logo of butterfly.

Trade make logo BUTTERFLY and made in CHINA.

Scissor sheath use a thick paper base and wrap with leather strip to hold the "U" shape base.

Note this sheath was constructed for the user to decide what other design for improvement was required.
Hence this trail run was to get feedback from user.

How the tips point sheath is being built and prevent the tips from protruding outside

The ring are being wrapped to reduce pressure point to hand of user.

Sheath cover is a trail version fore end user to confirm if is have any comment and improvement base on his experience and individual needs.
He will try to get the original scissor sheath with special attachment strap to belt.
Let hope he can remember to bring along with him for me to look at it.

Manage to ask end user after hand over his original design and try out his request. Keep a look out in future post for more update.

Non leather project #12 (Shopping trolley)

Notice current trolley for shopping use, have some minor problem is the catch mechanism keep slipping off when want to store trolley.

So the simple workaround to to install a simple button up strap on trolley machine.

Overall view of trolley and position to install strap.

Position to attach strap on trolley. stitching of parts to secure it on trolley.

Punch hole for strap.

Non Leather Repair #14 (Kitchen sink tap repair)

Was ask to help repair on a kitchen sink tap leaking water from the water hose below sink. Due to wear and tear from where a sink with tap was loose from base. This cause the hose to weaken and the water seal within to weaken. This result in water leak are joint of hose to tap fixture see Photo #2

First to open ALL tap to allow water flow out , next turn off mains supply so that the water pressure is reduce to minimum before removing any water pipe connection. If not there is possibility water jet shoot out while disconnecting pipe.

The possible problem is due to loosen tap slowly cause the hose connection to be loose and rust set in. When water leak it rust more over time and become worse as it rust further and leak more water.

Defective high pressure water hose removed. Noted the washer have deteriorate and the weak joint area is rusty until the leak get bigger hole.

To reduce stress on hose added a " L" elbow connector.

Original washer is only two piece and replace plastic nut.

Add two more leather washer for tap

Remove burr on the tap sink hole

Verify no leakage before turn mains tap for maximum position

Use newspaper at bottom to confirm problem is resolved..

Leather repair project (Friend's Leather Brief Case Bag) UPDATING #3 in progress

After repair done for pouch latch key, continue with repair on the flap part.

Remove latch mechanism for cleaning and re paint parts

Verify the position and mark point

Comparing the old and new leather parts for correct length to cut.

Use clamp to hold part while waiting for glue to cure.

Temporary use clamp to hold part in position.

Work in progress, to be continue please wait.....

Thanks the Penang Science Cluster (PSC) person in charge to allow me as their volunteer. This is a privilege to assist the PSC in their objective as space maker.
