Today start a fresh with new blog page to make it easier to navigate.
I'am still learning how to use this blogspot and update new project idea, tips and learn from our mistake to improve.
The old way I use to append my blog spot make not so easy to know if there is new project being updated. Sorry for making my blogspot not so user friendlier easy to read and discover new items.
Update 24th April 2018.
Various design , shape and different leather material, thread type and color are used. All these project use to conceal the button head between two leather.
Have to be careful not to button to close to edge as it will make stitching a bit more challenging.
This was done in preparation for as gift to close friends.
Enhance natural "defective" found on leather as part of design pattern.
Interesting way to explore it benefit base on it unique pattern.

Update 22nd April 2018
Saddle stitching for coin purse.
This is a short video clip on how the
saddle stitch for coin purse project.
Starting off with a simple coin purse project.
The idea of this coin purse is to "hide" the receiver button and cap under a layer of leather. The approx size of this coin purse is about 8 cm by 8cm (exclude the cover flag)
Note: have try to burnish one end edge and install button post and receiver before punch hole with diamond chisel.
These are other earlier coin purse project of different type and design for each purpose.
All these coin purse design have the cap button expose on outside.
Coin purse project with burnishing done, also have mix result. Not sure for this outcome. It could be some leather materials is not suitable for burnishing it edge.
Still learning how to determine which leather materials is suitable or not before start project.
Have tried out first before start project to get
a small sample and try out on burnishing edge.
Note: There are a few factors for poor burnishing the edge.
a) Poor surface preparation.
b) Poor cutting or trimming on edge or uneven edge
c) Poor skill and limited knowledge
d) Limited skill set on burnishing.
These are some old posts, moved from "making small gift post."
Recalling the first time making coin purse and the presentation on those few project on hand.
Sample on coin purse project way back on Nov 2016. First time making coin purse and still have limited experience and lacking in certain tools and basic skill. Looks strange and poor workmanship in stitching, cutting, punch hole, button. Well we all learn from past mistake and very limited knowledge and technique at that time.

Sharing an earlier project for coin purse, way back in Sept 2016.
This project base on three side to open coin purse. Notice the mallet use was a metal type, tried to add an old scrap leather at one end of hammer face to minimize damage to punch hole tool head. Notice the needle type was of different materials which encounter the sharp tip at time piece through the thread or get poke. Hence this result in saddle stitch is not so good outcome.
Sharing a template design for coin purse.
